Microfluidic chips with integrated micro-gaskets

Epigem is offering this solution for customers who want to integrate silicon, glass or quartz parts into a microfluid system or module. A PDMS micro-gasket is made in-situ as part of the same manufacturing process used to make the polymer microfluid chip. This means that the gasket can be pre-aligned to the microfluid layer to high accuracy. Also, the gasket can have a complex shape if required, rather than being restricted to a circular geometry.

All that needs to be done to use the gasket is to place the Si, glass or quartz part on top of the gasket and to apply an even, low clamping force. The clamping force can be applied, for example, using a clamping plate fixed on top of the microfluid chip using dowel pins or screws. If the Si, glass or quartz part needs to be accurately positioned with respect to the micro-gasket, then this can be done using a top housing piece into which the part fits and which is aligned using dowel pins.

The micro-gaskets are designed to integrate with the Epigem's' range of polymer microfluid chips which are available in epoxy/PMMA or epoxy/PEEK materials.
